Who We Are::

The Romanian Charity Foundation

„The Blind Bartimaeus”

Solidarity and Unconditional Support

Founded in 1994, The Blind Beneficence Foundation of Romania „The Blind Bartimaeus” was born out of a desire to support visually impaired individuals and their families. Over the decades, our mission has expanded; today, we provide aid to anyone facing hardship, regardless of age, gender, or religious affiliation.

Our Mission

We aim to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable among us. Our core focus areas include:

  • People with Disabilities: Specialized support for the blind and individuals with all degrees of disabilities.

  • Disadvantaged Families: Assistance for large families, abandoned children, or orphans.

  • Seniors: Care for isolated elderly individuals with no income or those who are bedridden.

  • Crisis Victims: Relief for those affected by natural disasters, domestic violence, or social marginalization.

To date, our community includes 3,870 members nationwide. Among them:

  • The majority are visually impaired individuals (1st and 2nd degree) who require permanent assistance.

  • 1,030 are children from precarious backgrounds or orphanages.

  • 68 bedridden elderly individuals in Suceava County receive weekly in-home medical care.

Healthcare and Medical Assistance

The foundation operates an on-site pharmaceutical point, fully equipped to meet the acute needs of our members.

  • Free Consultations: A physician with 23 years of experience in general medicine provides free consultations twice a week.

  • Medication Distribution: We dispense prescription medicine and provide professional guidance on proper administration.

  • Mobility Equipment: We distribute corrective eyewear, wheelchairs, and white canes for the blind.

Education and Technology

We believe in the future of our youth, which is why we actively invest in their digital education:

  • IT Lab: We feature a dedicated lab with 6 computers where children aged 7–15 learn the basics of computer science under careful guidance.

  • Educational Rewards: Children who demonstrate a strong desire to learn receive special gift packages during holidays, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors. We also provide school supplies and uniforms to prevent school dropout.

How We Help

The support provided by our foundation is practical and tailored to the specific needs of each family—ranging from food, clothing, and hygiene products to material aid such as toys, household appliances, or direct financial assistance.

We firmly believe that together we can build a better world. Our efforts are only possible thanks to volunteering and partnerships with institutions and organizations, both locally and internationally, that share our values of love and respect for our fellow human beings.

Our vision is simple: no person in suffering should ever feel alone. With your help, we turn hope into reality.
